What is our editorial process for each article?
Every article at Canada Scene is drafted by a named writer, reviewed by an editor and fact-checked before publication. This three-step process applies to all content types, including news, features, analysis and opinion pieces.

How do you distinguish news from opinion, features, sponsored content and affiliate links?
Canada Scene clearly labels every piece of content by its type. News articles report facts and events. Opinion pieces are explicitly marked as such and carry the writer’s byline and perspective. Features are longer-form journalism that may include analysis but remain grounded in verified reporting.
Sponsored content and commercial partnerships are always clearly labelled. Any article or section that involves payment from a third party will include a visible disclosure, such as “Sponsored” or “Presented by.” Affiliate links within articles are disclosed at or near the point of use. Our Advertising and Affiliate Disclosure page explains these practices in full. Commercial relationships never determine editorial conclusions at Canada Scene.
What article-level transparency do you provide?
Every article on Canada Scene includes the name of the writer who drafted it, the editor who reviewed it and the date of publication. Significant updates and corrections are noted at the bottom of the article with a timestamp and explanation. We do not publish anonymous bylines.
If an article is updated after initial publication, we note the reason and the nature of the change. Readers can find our full team listing on our Our Team page, which includes contact details for each editorial role.
How does Canada Scene remain independent?
Canada Scene is funded through display advertising, affiliate links, commercial partnerships, sponsored content, newsletter sponsorships and content licensing. No single funder, advertiser or sponsor has editorial control. Our Ownership and Funding page lists all revenue sources, and our Advertising and Affiliate Disclosure explains how commercial relationships are managed. The editorial team makes all decisions about what to cover and how to cover it.
Northern Beacon Media Inc. owns the publication, but the editor-in-chief has sole authority over editorial content. Any attempt to influence coverage from outside the newsroom is refused and reported in accordance with our standards.
What is your policy on the use of artificial intelligence?
Canada Scene may use digital tools for research, editing, formatting, translation, metadata, headline options, summaries and transcription. All published editorial content is reviewed by a human editor before publication. AI must never fabricate quotes, sources, interviews, bylines, author experience or expert profiles. How is attribution handled for writers and editors?
Every named writer takes responsibility for their work. Byline links direct readers to the author’s biography and previous articles. Editors are credited where appropriate. How do I file a complaint or request a correction?

We take every complaint seriously and will acknowledge receipt within two business days. Substantive complaints are investigated by Andrew Leblanc, and the outcome is communicated directly to the complainant. If the complaint relates to a specific article, we will publish a correction or clarification as appropriate.
